avoiding those 'agents' who secretly put high commissions on the fee,
sometimes losing the gig. If you didn't negotiate your fee with the
artist direct, you probably paid a high commission. Artists work hard,
deserve their fee, and want your gig!

- some agents do a valuable and good job, for both clients & bands,
and are open about their commission. Commissions of 10-15% are acceptable;
20% is getting high, and should come with a good service; but some 'agents'
never reveal the figures to clients or artists- nor do they reveal how
many clients and artists didn't get the job as the commission pushed
the price through the roof! (Often allowing the 'agent' to direct the
work to their favoured price-controlled band.)
